Help!! I need somebody ... Help!!

Courtesy of Google - thank you!

I've been burying my head in the sand, but 1st July is fast approaching ... the date something happens with our blogs ... not really sure what? If we do nothing, do our members vanish, can we no longer view our favourite blogs ... or what?

Help and advice needed urgently, please, please!

Love Claire xxx

  1. I too have no idea but have seen other posts about big changes, I did add the Bloglovin button this morning and it was easy. If I can do it anyone can but what and how all this changes effects us I have no idea. Head firmly in sand here too ~ Sarah x

  5. Hi Claire

It's Google Reader that's going isn't it? I think you'll still be able to access your blogs via the dashboard (which is all I do anyway). I think that's right. xx

  6. Hi Claire, me again. Take a look at this post: http://stamping-fantasies.blogspot.co.uk/2013/03/google-reader-changes.html It explains what's going on quite well I think. xx

    1. Thank you Loo! I don't read them through Google Reader anyway (I don't think!) I just click on blogs as they come up on my sidebar ... I don't think I need to do anything, so I'm not going to! If I disappear on 1/7 it was lovely knowing you all and thanks for your kindness and support ....

  8. I think the reading list disappears, so if you don't have your favourite blogs listed on your blog (which you do) I believe the rest just vanish. Basically the reading was there to remind you of who you have followed (I think). Its all very confusing and unnecessary! xxx

  9. It seems to be really confusing I believe it's google reader that is going not google friends connect and from what I read yesterday you should still be able to read your blogs on your blogger dashboard but don't quote me on that I'm not sure what to do if anything but I know lots if people have gone to bloglovin

  10. Hello Claire
    It is confusing ,isn't it?
I am using bloglovin like many bloggers are and its dead easy to use. Once you register it automatically uploads all what was on your Google reader to Bloglovin. When Google does its disappearing act at least you still have all your blog contacts on the Bloglovin list. As Google friend connect is connected to the Google reader I have a sneaky feeling that the Followers widget (Google friend connect)will disappear too. However I am not sure I need to read up more about it. What a pain in the b***!

    keep well

    Amanda :-)

  11. I've just my usual thing....I Googled....'blogs 1st july'.
The first link...'Google Reader Is Shutting Down 1st July 13'. Then It states....If your following Parka Blogs rss feed, just add the following link to your rss read...
A long link is printed underneath...
    (By now...I've lost the plot).
In fact the first three links, have the full explanation.
    If anyone understands it....!
Why! Oh! Why! Can't they leave things alone...

    2. Yes! I have just phoned my wizz kid...Richard!
He built my pinky-pinky PC...! He!
He suggests to leave it....Don't do anything,
until the first...As there are different variations, wait and see what happens to your
Blog...Then you can adjust it to what ever suits
      you and your system...
He always advises, let them make the first move..

      Never mind....Lets ALL have a cup of tea and a dough-nut....!!! :>)

  13. Dear Claire,

thanks so much for visiting me, and another technophobic Lady here!
As it is 11.17 pm and I should be in bed I will be back tomorrow to try and tell you how I went about transferring my Google reader list over to Bloglovin.
It was easy and will be back tomorrow.

    Hugs

  17. THANK YOU for saying this Claire. I've really been fretting over it. I might add the Bloglovin button, but when I try it asks me to do through Facebook and I don't want to! I like my blog to be something completely separate to Facebook.
I do feel reassured from what I've read here so I am going to leave well alone for now. Thanks again.

  18. I've done the Bloglovin button and it was an easy transfer of blogs, but I'm a bit of a technophobe really, so have no idea what's really happening... just don't want to lose anyone :) xx

  22. It seems to be just Google Reader and not Google Friend Connect. So, a simple change to Bloglovin will easily keep your blogs together, you just register and then claim your blog. I found the best blogger to read for this is the lovely Sandra at Cherry Heart who gives some tips on this link (http://sandra-cherryheart.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/time-to-jump-ship.html). Good luck and see you on the 'other side'! Chel x

  24. Hi Claire,

I am back and wonder how you are going with getting things sorted.
If you are wanting to join up with Bloglovin it is quite easy.
Now lets go to Bloglovin and you will need to set up an account with them.
Transferring your reading list from Google reader to bloglovin is set out on how to do it. Hope this makes sense.
I was able to do it and know you will too. Good luck and email me if you need help.
Enjoy the rest of the week
    hugs
    Carolyn

  25. Thank you everyone for all your very helpful comments! I went to Bloglovin and discovered I was already a member (told you I was clueless), but couldn't find the transfer button, but I will keep trying ...

Other than that, I think I'll just tight and wait and see what happens on Monday ...

Thanks again for all your lovely comments

    Love Claire xxx
