Dream on ...

Hold on to dreams ...
For if dreams die,
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly

These words were on a poster in my senior school classroom in the 70's, and I still think they apply today, just as much as they did then.

What do you think, and have you held onto words or a verse all your life?

Love, Claire xxx

  1. Although it is not a verse I really love the desiderata, I think it sums up how I feel about most things and its good to remind myself of that if I get lost along the way.....your verse is lovely xx

  2. We both must be having a dreamy Monday judging by our posts! lol

What an inspirational verse. The one true thing that has always stuck with me was something an old girlfriend of my cousins once said. "Nobody is always on your side all of the time" at the time that sounded really rather grim but as an adult I see more that we are all different and all have our own perspectives on life.

Hope you have a great week.

    1. Loved your dreamy post Paula ... Your words are so true also, and make you stop and think that life is up to you, and not anyone else's responsibility. xx

  3. Hello Claire
Thanks for bringing back happy memories. I won a poster with these words on during drama class when I was 13. The words have always been stuck in my mind and I really do believe they're true.
My dad used to give me 50p for reciting the owl and the pussycat went to sea, so needless to say I still know that off by heart.
    Have a lovely week.

  9. I have always believed the saying 'Regret the things you have done not the things you haven't done' and remember telling my sons the same.I suppose it's about making the most of life and your opportunities.

    1. I like that Anne, and think it is something we should strive for. I try to have no regrets, because unless we are really unhappy with our lives, doing something else may have altered our lives beyond recognition. xx

    1. Very true, sometimes we're so wrapped up in a situation, we don't realise that we can change it ourselves by altering our way of thinking. Thanks for sharing xx

  21. Lovely idea - one of my favourite little snippets of poetry is:
"I would give all the wealth that the years have piled, the slow result of life's decay, to be once more a little child, for one bright Summer's day" (It may not be exact after all these years being in my head!). I posted a picture of myself with my sister as children on flickr with this little rhyme....

  23. Thank you all for your lovely comments. I've received a couple of strange comments from someone which made absolutely no sense, but seemed unpleasant, so have removed them, and had to take the precaution of reviewing my comments before they are published. Sorry about this, but it only takes one person to spoil something for everyone. Hope you all ave a lovely weekend
